Video[edit]
A music video was made in 1982 after the huge success of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". The video, directed by David Mallet, is a re-enactment of 23 record labels rejecting Jett's first solo album and her subsequent rise to the top of the charts with "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". Kenny Laguna, cofounder of Blackheart Records, appears in a cameo as the Warner Bros. executive.[5]
However, the song can be heard played loudly on a jukebox in a bar at the beginning of the "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" music video.
In popular culture[edit]
Jett performed the song live at WrestleMania 35, as American professional wrestler Ronda Rousey entered the ring for her match to defend her WWE Raw Women's Championship in the first ever woman's main event at WrestleMania 35.[7]
The song has been used for ads promoting Folgers, Jack Daniel's, and Nike.[8][9][10]
The song is featured in the opening scene of 1999 teen romantic comedy film 10 Things I Hate About You.[11]
The song is the theme for the TV show Freaks and Geeks. It was also featured prominently in the 2001 animated film Shrek, and a cover of the song by Halfcocked is featured on the soundtrack.[12]
The song was used as an entrance song for Taylor Swift’s 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour.[13]
The song was used as the opening theme for the 2023 movie Red, White & Royal Blue.[14]
